Toronto, November 19, 2025 – The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) is proud to announce that Lisa Pryce, a student in the RTA Media Production program at Toronto Metropolitan University, has been selected as the recipient of the 9th Andra Sheffer Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship recognizes an exceptional student committed to building a career in children’s screen-based media.
Toronto, November 19, 2025 – The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) is proud to announce that Lisa Pryce, a student in the RTA Media Production program at Toronto Metropolitan University, has been selected as the recipient of the 9th Andra Sheffer Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship recognizes an exceptional student committed to building a career in children’s screen-based media.
Lisa Pryce will receive accreditation to attend the Kidscreen Summit in San Diego as well as the Banff World Media Festival, thanks to the support of Brunico, along with a $4,000 travel grant provided by YMA. She will benefit from personalized professional mentorship and the opportunity to meet YMA members as well as influential industry leaders.
Jamaican-Canadian and residing in Ajax, Ontario, Lisa stands out for her enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication to developing innovative and inclusive children’s content. As a media production student at Toronto Metropolitan University, she continues her academic journey with passion and rigor. After attending the YMA Awards of Excellence, she was deeply inspired by the collaborative energy of the children’s media community.
Lisa is currently developing Rolling Through, a youth television series centred on Sydney, a bright, funny pre-teen who uses a power wheelchair and navigates friendships, independence, and everyday challenges. With its authenticity, humour, and faithful representation of the real experiences of disabled youth, Rolling Through aims to normalize difference and elevate meaningful functional diversity on screen.
The selection committee was composed of esteemed experts: Andra Sheffer, Agustin Guevara Mastretta, Maria Kennedy, Becki Brisson, Shabnam Resaei, and Sarah Haasz. YMA thanks them for their dedication.
