Montreal, October 21, 2026 - Youth Media Alliance (YMA) congratulates Pascal Bérubé on his appointment as Quebec’s Minister of Culture, Heritage, Communications and the French Language.

YMA welcomes this appointment and wishes the new minister every success in his new role. At a time when young people’s media consumption habits are evolving rapidly and the industry is facing significant changes, supporting audiovisual content for young audiences and ensuring its discoverability in the digital environment are essential to the future of our culture.

YMA looks forward to continuing its dialogue with the Government of Quebec to help foster a media environment that supports the creation, production, discoverability and reach of high-quality Quebec content for children and youth, in both French and English.

“Media play a fundamental role in young people’s development, their understanding of the world and their relationship with culture. It is essential that children and youth have access to content that reflects their experiences, represents the diversity of their realities and nurtures their curiosity. We look forward to working with the new minister to ensure that youth media remain a priority in Quebec’s cultural policies and discussions,” said France A. Martin, Executive Director of YMA.

YMA reaffirms its commitment to working with the minister and cultural sector partners to advance the conditions necessary for a thriving youth media industry. The Alliance will continue to represent the sector’s professionals and advocate for a media ecosystem that can reach young audiences where they are, while ensuring that Canadian content remains visible and accessible.

YMA wishes Minister Pascal Bérubé every success in his new role and looks forward to continued dialogue with the Government of Quebec to help build a future in which young people have access to diverse, relevant content that reflects Quebec society.
