Toronto, November 19, 2025 – YMA is pleased to present its Children, Youth & Media Conference, taking place today at the CBC Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, ON — a full-day event…
The conference is a forum for exchanging ideas, training, and professional development for emerging screen-based media professionals across Canada. More than 140 delegates are expected to attend this unique event, where leading experts will discuss programming trends and provide insights into the needs and interests of young audiences. The program includes conferences, screenings, discussions, and meetings with distinguished Canadian guests.
Alongside the impressive lineup of speakers, panelists, and moderators, the 2026 recipient of the YMA Andra Sheffer Scholarship will also be announced.
With more than 140 participants and 36 panelists and moderators, the conference will explore topics at the heart of the youth media industry. This year’s program offers an in-depth look at the key issues shaping the future of children’s content. The day will begin with a discussion on the impact of artificial intelligence in 2025—its rapid advancements and its influence on creative practices. This will be followed by a session exploring Generations Alpha and Beta, essential to understanding emerging audiences and their media habits. Trends in YouTube discoverability and audience growth will also be highlighted, before a strategic conversation with PBS on co-productions, funding cuts, and the future of the sector. The afternoon continues with a panel dedicated to building large cross-platform audiences, a presentation on narrative sovereignty and trust within Indigenous productions, and an in-depth discussion on international co-productions across films, series, and new formats. The day will conclude with an inspiring address from a special guest, followed by a conversation on the future of youth channels, before wrapping up with a convivial networking reception.
YMA wishes to thank its sponsors, whose support makes this year’s Conference possible: CBC Kids, the Canada Media Fund (CMF), the Indigenous Screen Office (ISO), APTN, Spin Master, Telefilm Canada, the City of Toronto, the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), 9 Story Media Group, Little Engine Moving Pictures, Sinking Ship Entertainment, and the Bell Fund.
